Hello,I have a Dsl 4 port modem with a 3Meg download 768 upload connection.I have the main computer, and 3 other computers hooked up to the versa link modem via cat5 cable.3 of the computers are about the same speed and all connected to the modem by cat5 cable, the 4th computer is cat5 cable to a dlink 100mbps switch and then to the 4th computer, the switch lights show connection to be 100mbps,but the computer seems to be much slower than the other 3 that are connected directly to the Dsl modem ports. No viruses,spyware,ect.4th computer is clean.Am I doing something wrong here??How can I speed up this 4th computer? It seems like this even if no one else is using computers 1-3.Is there a easy way to correct this 4th computer? all cat5 cabled.

lordgalla,

First, I would switch the 4th computer with one of the others and see if things get better for the 4th and bad for the other.

Same thing for the cables used, cables can be bad, twisted, crushed, bent etc.

You also might want to download some free speed testing software and see what the difference really is. I know that has several different tweak tools as well as a speed test for testing Internet connections.

Make sure your nic card is set to auto for speed and duplex .
