I designed a document for a company, whom is getting it professionally printed. The print company contacted me today and ask if I could save the document in "1 color Output"??? something about the CMYK not printing or something, has anyone heard of 1 color output and if so how to?

One color output? Did you design the document to use only one color throughout? e.g. black - or any other single color? Or a specific spot color? Or have you used lots of colors? Need to know this before I can make any further suggestions.

I designed it in yeah one color a blue face color #230E77 It's a Credit Application

blue face color #230E77

Is this a Pantone spot color? Just make sure EVERYTHING in your file is in that color (or a tint of that color) and let the printer know. Assuming offet printing, he will therefore need to make only one plate (not the four that CMYK printing requires) so it will work out a lot cheaper. I am just wondering if you have something in the file you accidentally left in CMYK or even just black. Black counts as a separate color as it needs a separate plate, so just make sure there is nothing in the file anything other than the spot color.

I'm lost!!! Just design the color output is foreign to me... I wished I could email and let you take a look? The Logo was copied from another file, it's slight diff blue than the rest of the app though. Anyway he wants it taken off since they have the company logo on file... Will you take a look for me?

I would be happy to have a look for you, but this could be difficult. Do you have a website you can upload the file to? I am not willing to publish my email address here.

When you say the logo was copied from another file - was it an Ilustrator file? In other words, is it truly all vector or have you imported a raster file to Illustrator? I don't quite understand what we are dealing with here.

Can you talk to the printer directly to clarify further what he wants?

no website... I'll talk to the printer.. I did in illustrator.. I'm thinking of changing the Color settings ot US Pre-press, maybe that'll correct. Oh well I'm going to bed now, thanks for all your help. I get your responses on email alert hopefully I'll have it done by tommorrow.. Thanks..

you need to select all and convert to greyscale
