First, any describing errormessages?

-Try to recreate the application set in a client and check for differances.

-Check the eventlog of the servers for licensing issues.

-A good thing to have in hand is "tcpview" from sysinternals.com. A beautiful utility wich list all established and listening ports and their endpoints (which exe-file mapts to what port) on the server so you see that you have ICA listeners etc.

Also, check the FR level on the servers (right click the server in CMC - Set FR level), if you don't have any FR licenses installed it should be "None".

...to begin with, hope it helps!

thanks for getting back
fr level is 2 which is correct
only event msg is timeout waiting for prog neeighborhood service
cant recreate app set for client as cannot not see servers or farm after switch (have manually stopped and started ima)
licensing seems fine works fine as mixed so should be ok in native right?
cheers

Try to manually add the ip-addresses of the servers in the application set, and after that hit the refresh button.

Add ip-addresses by marking the application set and choose settings, connection tab.
Or create a new application set and add ip-addresses under server location, then usen the roll-down menu for application set.

The above tips assumes that the application servers answers on a ping so you have communication.

have tried all these no joy all msgs state ica browser sercice cannot locate any servers/apps etc? can ping and indeed can logon to server through existing custom ica server client? feel like i'm missing something fundamental

What is the error msg from the client when you try to find a application set?

ERROR MSG IS "the application set could not be found on the network. it may be offline, your computer may not have the protocol it need, or your computer may not be connectred to the network" it sounds like protocol? i haven't changed anything since installing just kept existing settings? also one wird thing i was exdpecting an migrate apps gui when i went to xp didn't get it nut i was using fr1 notes does that make a differnce?

Check the servers properties so that you have listeners on your chosen protocol, and that the servers answers broadcasts.

Check the security of the ICA protocol on the servers so that the users are allowed access.

Check what protocol the clients use, set to only TCP/IP if you have made no changes since 1.8.

-Use the tcpview utility (found at sysinternals.com) on both server and client to sniff wether the from the client reaches the server or not.

if you are still having a "Program Neigborhood Service" you are not in "native mode"
