InDesign does not open DOC or HTML files. It places DOC files. Read the manual for details.

thanx for that, very new to indesign,my new job in our local fishing club is to publish a newsletter for print and email a copy that will go on our web site that is done in frontpage, members send me doc files to put in newsletter,my question is , do you all think ind 1.52 is a suitable prog for this, or later versions , i got this one cheap with manuals but i'm not sure on it's capability

InDesign 1.x was a capable application but it was not the greatest page layout application. If you already have the 1.5 license, it is not too far of a financial leap to upgrade to the modern marvel. But you should still be able to produce good work with 1.x.

Believe me, upgrade to InDesign CS or CS2. You won't regret the price.
