This is a dumb question.....on an 0x12 s/l ckt pack w/ ring
gen....listening across the t&r station in the monitor with
a linesmen test set...I hear clicking. Any particular reason for this condition. Not all stations in the pack have this clicking. Would this be due to the age, vintage or programming. thanks in advance

Clicking" would probably be a bad card. Is it on all the ports, or just certain ones?

I would say that unless you have a complaint from the customer, disregard this.

Reason - All Legends had somewhat noisey power supplies that clicked - this could be what you are hearing.

It doesn't hurt anything, and since you only hear it in monitor, then I would not be concerned.

There were complaints when the control unit was in an office that they didn't like the noise it made.

But that was the power supply deal....

to finish this point...Its happening on 6 of the 12 ports and we have replaced the card...same condition..then replaced the PS w/ an A3...still clicking....its not a problem, just curious why it happen.thanks for your replies

The "clicking" that you hear in monitor mode on some of the T/R station ports is the message waiting indication. The system is flipping the polarity to trigger an LED MW lamp circuit in the phone. Do you have voice mail on these stations? Try the code for canceling or returning a message waiting (I don't remeber the code for a S/L off the top of my head)

as a matter of fact...4 of the t&r ports are programmed for
VM stations. I had a thought the vm programming had something to do with it.....thanks for you input..this is very helpful.
