communication failure has occured"

Backups were running fine for about two weeks then this started happening on every job (varied types, 98 jobs in all)
I can't get anything to finish now!! They crap out before they even backup a gig of data.
Any help is much appreciated, I'm flustered right now.
Win2k server machine connected directly to router with gigabit fiber connection.
