I have a bit of a problem on my hands, and I've not been able to resolve it myself. I have this system:

Magix 3
412tdl
408mlx
016t/r
mm1.1

We had to turn the phone system off for about 2 days and unplug it due to hurricane dennis, and when we turned it back on, the analog extensions would give no dial tone. On any extenion with a system phone that has buttons for the analog extensions, they are just always lit up, and any attempt to dial them result in a busy signal.

I kinda nosed around in the Maint. area on my programming phone, and under slots, it says there is an error, but it does not tell me what it is. As a matter of fact, I think it says that there's an error on all of the boards, but excepting the analog ports, everything else is working fine--aa, vm, digital ports, etc...

I'm at a loss, and since our only 2 analog extensions are our fax machines, management is breathing down my neck.

Thanks in advance!!!

HI MARK,
You mentioned the system has errors. You can print them out from the Print Menu in programming. Then you can look up any of the codes in the Pocket Guide. In the Maintenance section with SPM it only shows alarms one at a time.

You might try unplugging the station cables from the 016T/R and plugin a single line phone, like a 2500 set, and see if you get dialtone. If you had any water damage the cables maybe wet and this would present a short to the module.

Otherwise see what alarms you have and ask us more questions.

Hope this helps!

Try under Maintenance>Slot> (016 slot #) > Busy out then Restore. Sometimes things get "locked up" and this will free them up. Also try the standard reseating-the-card fix. Maybe Dennis shook something loose.

I would also check the firmware on your existing 016 card. If it is out-of-date (not APV:04 or APV:22 - depending on 016 model) and you have a processor upgrade card that also includes module upgrades - you can upgrade the 016 module firmware - which may resolve the problem. However, you need to be careful. There are two 016 module upgrades available - and they are not interchangeable. For 016 cards with model #'s in the A thru C range - you can upgrade the APV to "04". For 016 cards with model #'s in the D and up range - you can upgrade the APV to "22". If you try the "22" APV upgrade on an older 016 card (A thru C) - the upgrade will fail and the card will be disabled - until the correct upgrade is applied. The two versions of the 016 upgrade are on the Legend R7.0, 14.2 processor upgrade card. The Magix R3 upgrade card ONLY has the APV:22 upgrade.

I hope it's not too late to help, but I would do a BOARD RENUMBER to see if that brings things back to life.

I take tech support calls from all over, and in the last 2 days I had 3 or 4 that had known power issues, and when they came back up, some boards were "sick".

Board renumber fixed some, others had to be physically replaced.

Good Luck

There is an upgrade to take the 016TR to APV 27, this will allegedly fix some issues with the 016 TR. Hasn't fix any of mine yet. It's only available thru Avaya tech support.
