012 card not ringing extension

I just added an 012 card to add a fax extension, but the card won't ring attached extensions. It's a V6.1 R10 with 2 408 GLIDMLX cards, an 007 MLM, a 408 and then the 012 at the end. Calls out go fine. I noticed an 016 card in a different cabinet says "w/RING GENERATOR". Are there different 012 cards? How can I make this work?

There are 012 plain and 012 ring gen. However, as I understand it the 012 plain should be able to use the ring generators in the 016 card. (You say a different cabinet... do you mean expansion cabinet, or different system entirely?)

If you use the 012 that does not have the Built in ring generator you would have to install the optional ring generator into the power supply.

The 012 without Ring is an OLD card, you would be better off buying one with the ring gen built in or getting an 016.

It's a different system entirely so, no ring gen installed. I only paid $19 for it, live and learn. i'll get a newer card and go with that.

I just discovered that this is also a problem with one of my Merlin systems. We just installed a bunch of new phones on a 012 that wasn't previously used. My question is can the board be swapped out with a 012 w/ Ring Gen. and not have to reconfigure anything? In other words, can I shut the system down, swap the board and bring it back up without any issues? Or is this going to be more involved?

Yes, you can go from an 012 without ring generator to an 012 WITH ring generator without any programming issues.
