007 MLM chkdsk utility

Does anyone know of a way to run a chkdsk on a 007 MLM from the dos prompt. I'm trying to restore it to factory defaults but it won't let you if there are errors on the disk. Thanks in advance.

Avaya's website has documents you can download covering the 007MLM. The two I would recommend are: Merlin Legend Mail - Installation & Upgrade, Merlin Mail Planning - Installation R3.0. This second one has chapters applicable to the MLM.

You have to hook up to the 9-pin RS232 port on the MLM 007 Module (no null modem required) from your computer 9-pin serial port. Use the Hyperterminal software (built into Windows). After you start hyperterminal (1200 baud), hit enter, log in using your 6-digit serial# as the password. You should then see the menu screen. Choose "shut down". After the vm shuts down and the menu reappears - run the hard disk test - and see if you have any "bad" sectors on the drive. If you do - you cannot reinitialize the software and you will have to replace the drive. You could also run the port test. Then choose restart and after it does, log off.

Check out this thread, read about SpinRite.. perhaps it will work for you. It's supposed to support MLM drives and actually fixes bad sectors.
