007 mlm 9997 master password override 3

Hello I have a customer who has a 007 mlm the it manager changed the password in mailbox 9997 and left the company .Now i need to access mailbox 9997 and cannot i tried the serial number on the system and that does not work like it normally does there were two different serial numbers on the 007 one on the front cover and one on the hard drive neither worked . Does anyone know of another way of reseting the password back to 123456# .thank you

I may be able to determine the correct Serial Number by Dialing into the MLM-007, but other than that, based on what you have stated, there is no Magic password.

Alternatively, you can use a DB-9 M/F straight-through serial cable and a PC running Hyperterminal, Procomm or other terminal emulation software to talk to the board directly.

And yeah, if the 007MLM has ever been refurb'd, you may find that the serial number on the clamshell (and the one on the hard disc's sticker) may not match the one "in the software". By dialing in or connecting directly through the board's serial port is the only way I know to get the true s/n.

It is with this software serial number that you can reset the system's manager password back to the default (Merlin Messaging has several backdoor passwords, but this is the only technique we have for Merlin LEGEND Mail).

Once you have the "real" software serial number, login to mailbox 9997 and use this serial number as the password. It sometimes helps to wait for "her" to quit talking before you try to enter the password. Finally, cycle power to the board to restore the FACTORY passwords.

I'll be glad to send a Word doc to anyone else out there who needs detailed info re passsword recovery on any Merlin, Legend or Partner mail (I just need to know the vintage). AUDIX, Intuity and all flavors of MAP are a whole different game, and for another thread.
