£ no £ in output

I have an asp.net page that dumps html data into an Excel file by changing the contentType header to ms/excel. Unfortunately all the £ signs in my text come out as £.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop this?

Server.HtmlEncode()

But I fixed it using Response.ContentEncoding = System.Text.UTF7Encoding.UTF7 .

I guess they do a similar thing.
