Thanks for the tips, I think I tried that. I did a full mirror of the db this weekend gone and that now attaches fine. I'll try the replication again in the next day or so and post back the results.
I'm specifying the mdf, the logfile and location are automatically filled. If I remove the location I get 'The physical location is invalid' error with regard to the log.
Hi there,
I've spent the last day or so trying to work out a way of recovering data from an MDF that has a missing or out of data LDF file and to be honest I'm struggling.
I'm using SQL 2000. I've tried to attach the database with the out of date logfile, this reports an error 9003 indicating...
Thats sort of what we do atm. Retrospect grabs the data from the remote servers and dumps it locally. It then gets written to tape, it just all gets done at night.
I had a look at that link before I posted but unfortunately what I'm looking for really is anyone with specific information and...
Hi there,
I've been searching around looking for a backup solution that is going to work within our company and network structure.
We've been using Retrospect for the last year and we hate it with a passion and it causes problem on servers from time to time causing them to crash and reboot -...
Solving the lag is important to the client. We worked around it for the moment with a dns record, but I'd still like to actually solve the problem rather that working around it if you know what I mean.
Afaik the application makes a call to the ip on 80 using it's own connection. I don't know...
It's difficult to explain.
A client has an application that makes a connection to a web service apparently in the same way as you'd telnet. It connects directly to the IP on port 80.
A browser connection works fine to the site, as does telneting over port 80 direct to the IP from any windows...
The reply from our ISP was as follows:
Not overly helpful, they were also quick to distant themselves from the issue.
The only issue is connecting to the server via IP from Redhat using Telnet over web ports. Browsers function fine as does dns resolution. Pings and Traceroutes show nothing...
Oh forgot to add, I can't see a way of expliciting forcing full duplex from within RH. The firewall is disabled on the machines and the routing table is ok.
All they did was to test the connection from Debian machines which were accessing it normally and compare that to their Red Hat machines.
Debian = fast connection
Red Hat = slow connection
It's interesting because I didn't actually state to our ISP that is was Red Hat that we were using.
Ok further information, thanks to our ISP we've isolated it further, the problem only occurs on Red Hat based machines. Debian based machines were fine.
Is there something weird or different that needs to be looked at on Red Hat?
Thanks for your replies.
The problem respresented itself with a Flash loader that took 20-30s to bring up content. Although during testing locally it was instant (near enough).
Having only ssh access to the Linux box myself we simply used Telnet over port 80 to test the access times. We built...
Hi all,
I have relatively little Linux experience and am having great trouble which I though you guys might be able to shed some light on.
We have various web servers running IIS5 and IIS6 which when tested work fine from Windows PCs. However, when we try and connect through a Linux platform...
Hi there wondering if anyone can shed some light on this issue.
Currently we have an issue with 1 PC (fine on rest) where Outlook 2003 (SP2) crashes whenever the user clicks on the To: or CC: buttons when replying, forwarding or creating an e-mail.
We have removed the address book, recreated...
CMOS battery has been replaced, so I think that is ok. Good thinking about the PSU though, it's something that hadn't entered my head ;).
Gonna see if I can test a fresh one in it and see what happens :).
I've got 2 really weird problems at the moment with a machine I'm working on.
PC Spec:
P4 2.4
VIA P4M266 chipset
512MB 2100 DDR RAM
Seagate Barracuda (ST380021A) 80GB HD
Maxtor DiamondMax 10 (6B160P0) 160GB HD
Windows 2000
Problem 1: Random freezing
The machine freezes randomly, sometimes...
I run a 2 port KVM at home for keyboard, monitor and mouse and never had a problem. Can't remember the make to be honest.
The symptons do tend to point to either the KVM or perhaps more likely one of the cables - audio being the place to start.
What I would do in this situation is set-up both...
I wish, backups are made only of the servers not individual machines. I've not heard back from the manufacturer either. Gonna be re-formatting that machine tomorrow by the look of it :(.
