    Limit items listed in a WebPart

    Is there a way to limit the amount of items listed in a WebPart. I have tried to modify the depth under appearance, but that did not work. There is a great function to Limit Items in the Document Library list, but this does not apply to the WebPart on the site's home page. Thanks
