Since I have an option to build indices for all tables, I suppose when the file was placed in data environment, the index went with it (nothing else on my part).
When the table is opened in the command window and set order to the tag, it moves the record to the appropriate location.

Got a form with a single column grid. Placed the file in the data environment which contains the index as well. To add a record to the file, I scroll to the bottom of the grid and type the data into a blank record. Upon completion the record does not move to the appropriate location...
