    Replace Server Advice

That TID worked 100% it took a little more time that 1 hour to complete the replication but that was the only hang up. All of the post de-install steps are error free as well so hopefully we'll get the new machine on Friday. Thanks agin for the help

    Replace Server Advice

by errors i mean i didn't get any messages or errors while running DSREPAIR or removing the dead server from the replication ring. it has been removed from one server and the other machine still has the "dying" tag next to the dead server, so i guess i just have to wait a little longer.

    Replace Server Advice

I followed the instructions on TID 10010922 and didn't get any errors, the only question I have is the other servers are still looking for the dead machine. I get the error on the console "no communication with XXXX001 server". is that good or really bad thanks again!

Thanks for the info Marv..I guess only a file server came out wrong, I was thinking no heavy duty data bases for mission critical apps. The server does DHCP/DNS, iPrint and Apache. My biggest concern was the way it was takes from the Tree Thanks for the info - I'm sure I'll be back!

    Netware + Office2003 activation

This is just a follow up question to Marv's answer. I use ZEN App Launcher for some smaller apps housed on the server, what kind of overhead are you talking about if I launch a full blown office app like word? I could have as many as 100 students at a time accessing that file.

That's a good point, I didn't think of file transfers. For starters I was looking to get the DLU package working in the smaller schools to combat the windows/novell login issue they have with thier 2k/xp boxes. Thanks for the info.

    Volatile User

It will cause a new profile to be created from the 'default' profile each time someone logs in.. but I can't see how that would help. " so any changes that a user makes will be "erased" on logout screen savers, backgrounds, etc ? That's a great help, when a student shows off his computer...

Hi All What is your experience, if any, using the Volatile user option in a school lab setting? I use Deep Freeze (not enterprise edition) to control user changes but if I need to make a change to a local machine I have to unfreeze every machine, make the change, and re-freeze. It looks like...
