    Thanx for the quick reply, will try. The back end id access DB 97, will this sum a column at run time and live? so if i have this data in a DBGrid name age bob 12 sarah 14 ted 92 the result will be = 118

    I am using Delphi 5, and would like to know how to calculate the sum of a column in a table. I have got a grid and done this 'sum:=DBGrid2.Columns[6].Field.value;' but all this does is do the sum for the highlighted row? Anybody help Regards Pete

    Databases are just plain weird..

    Its all about open, edit, and close the database has to be edit mode for data to be entered or edited, ensure to close the database on exiting your application, put a proper close button with the command to close the dbase on exit good luck

    DAO, Opus Direct Access for Access 97/2000

    Have designed program using access database on NT4 machine, transfered work to Laptop running win2000, get 'General SQL error' and table closed errors. Have seen something saying use DAO or OPUS Direct, what are these how does one use them help!! Peter Green

    I have a program that uses multiple Database tables, 6 off these tables contain details and one is master, eg one to many relationship. Problem when I filter the tables and preview the QuickReport it only shows the first record when their could be more records matching that filtered result...

    Can't get QReport to shoe multiple records with the same data after filtering, it only show the first one it finds. So filter for '15' shows the first record with 15 in the Qreport but not the others?? Help Regards Piotr
