I forgot to tell you that the HDD I am making eventhough it does not boot in my laptop, it boots to the other laptop.
Here is the script I use to format the HDD:
cd /
umountall
#
# Initialization of Hard Disk
#
echo
echo "Initializing Harddisk for Unix ..."
echo
echo "Be sure disk size is...
FACTS:
1)If I put a HD installed with SCO and some apps from another laptop to mine it boots ok but I have no graphics due to incorrect display drivers and I don't have the root password in order to change the display driver.
2)When I make a same HD in my laptop it says "Dump not Complete"...
I fixed it!!! I copied the eval line from a user that does not have the same problem and gets the command prompt without enter. I had to change the "-ansi" to "-scoansi" in some cases! Is there any problem with that? It looks to work fine!
LAST think I am trying to do is to make my system boot...
Thanks..."asroot" did the job I wanted.
I gave the "shutdown" with an "-y" parameter in order to avoid confirmations.
The shutdown commences after 60seconds which is the default and the minimum...I think. Can I reduce that time to less than 60 secs?
Thanks to all of you I managed to disable the password nad autorun startx after I login!
There are two thinks more I want to ask you.
When I login as "user" I get a "TERM=scoansi" messageand and I have to press enter to proceed to the prompt. Can I skip this step?
How can I tell my system to...
Thanks for your answers...
I tryed the su but it doesn't work.
From within scoadmin I gave every possible privilege and authorization to the "user" but...nothing!
I sorry to bother you with simple questions but I am very new to SCO and Unix in general.
When I login as root I get the # prompt...
My "user" cannot issue a "init 0" or "init 6" I have to be logged in as "root" to do that!
Can I Fix this? Can I shut down or reboot my system as "thatuser"?
Thank for your response!!!
To be honest with you I don't even know where to find the user profile and how to edit it, but I won't bother you explaining me that, I think I can find that!
BUT can I make my system automatically login as "that" user without prompting me for a pawwsord?
