    How to improve connection speed?

Since I upgraded from MySQL 4.0 to 4.1 on my Windows NT 4 server, I have noticed a serious slowdown in the speed of connecting to the database from the local network, though the speed of database operations is not a problem. What used to be quite fast (less than 1 sec to connect) now takes at...

    Sound problem

I tried re-installing a local driver, and it found one this time, and now my sound system is back on "track". I can't understand why it gave so much trouble before. Thanks for your help, bcastner.

    Sound problem

I've gone back over that thread, but unfortunately there's nothing new to report. I've checked the IDE controller suggestion and the HKEY_USERS suggestion, and they're both OK. Sound problem

    Sound problem

Thanks for that link, bcastner. After trying the solution in that thread, installing the MS Audio Compression Manager, there is no improvement. MS Kernel System Renderer is still exclamation-marked, and if I try to play a sound file with Media Player, I get the message "no audio hardware is...

    Sound problem

I can't get any sound since I reinstalled my Windows 2000 system, though the connections and speakers are fine. The drivers are all installed and according to the Device Manager working properly, except for the "Microsoft Kernel System Renderer". I can't find any material or drivers on the web...
