My follow up :
Dear Mr xxxxx,
Thanks for this quick reply.
JC> ...all DX models come with a ROM module in the main board...

This is for me the very interesting part of your answer; because it is indeed the main board that...
Answer From Xerox :
Dear Mr Lopez,
all DX models come with a ROM module in the main board. It may be called a Boot ROM, or a code ROM, but it must be in the main board. The ROM module contains the boot sector and, among other things, the XEROX logo. Without that module, the printer would only...

I was until recently a happy owner of a Phaser 860 MDX. (Model: 860/MDX Serial: M1XC19HP3N)
As you can see it is a MDX version. It worked with no big problem until last week when before moving offices I needed to change my IP configuration. To do that I went to the web pages of the...
Did not tried that because the warm up does not take place at all.
Have just spoken by phone with another tech and I have ordered a boot/code chip to see what append...
The particular version of mainboard I have does not have any boot/code chip, so the boot was certainly comming from the dead...
Hello,
I trying to find a way of giving life back to my phaser 860MDX
Right now if I power on the printer, I can listen to a fan noise (it stays on), and then a Xerox logo appear on the display, then the green light, near the display, lit, then nothing more append... It can stay like that for...
Thanks for that, but that's not what Itrying to figure out....
I already know that...
My problem is that my phaser came from factory with a main board whose part number IS 671-5279-01, that is a true fact.
But neither any documentation or support people seems to know anything about this...
My dead phaer, model 860/MDX, as a main board reference 671-5279-01-16895.
This reference seems to be unknown to xerox/tektro support people.
Does someby has anything about this crazy part ?
Thanks
M
ok now after almost 20 hours of researching reading and thinking, I think I'm starting to have some inkling about my specific phaser 860 situation.....
The model I've got is named MDX. (I'm still not shure if it was a european designation based on the DP version...)
[My full serial is 860/MDX...
yes it is listed it seems to be the 860DP, having this internal hard drive because ou the build in duplex I think. (called MDX configuration on my serial...)
Thanks
Ml
ok now I see what you both mean.
But it is not my configuration.
On my phaser the hard drive is/was directly mounted on "main board" (I think, in fact the one where the lan parallel or usb cable connect to), is is located on a piggy board plastic support, on the right if you look at this...
interresting, can you explain "HDD-board" ?
Does it have some thing to do with the main board ? or are you reffering to the electronic directly form the hard drive ?
Thanks
Ml
ok for that.
But I was thinking, after browsing this forum that some of the needed system files has to be on this hard drive, and that it could be an explanation to why my printer is not booting anymore.
Thanks
Ml
just to had something else, any idea about what has been the first step in my failure history, was that everything was working fine until I had to do a reset using the web management (after changing the IP..)
I still have access to this web interface but that where I can see this unavalaible...
ok for that.
Any idea how to diagnose what need to be look at ?
any first step to try to cure this endless "postscript intialising" situation ?
(But my first fact was that the crazy noise that my hard disk do went it is shake seems to be a usual clear sign a failure...)
Thanks one more time...
Just in case, I found a free tool that seems to be able to duplicate those disks.... (still seaking the correct imaging software..)
http://www.pcinspector.de/clone-maxx/uk/welcome.htm
Bad news (for me) the 2 disks need to be connected to the system...
Since my original one is really dead...
Thanks for your explaination.
But unplugging the hard drive change nothing.
The printer won't boot.
(maybe some config to change somewhere ?)
Plugging another drive not working also.
Maybe this system cannot boot without the hard drive (it is a model that came directly with duplex and hard...
Hello,
Until yesterday I was using my 4 years old phaser 860 (with duplex, hard drive and supplemental tray) without problems but somehow I needed to change my IP configuration using the web interface.....
It went almost ok because I can ping this new IP, but now the printer front panel only...
