In the meantime, I also read more on Data Execution Prevention (DEP) having previously tried the "boot.ini" listed here...

I replicated the error under my admin account by viewing a folder with ~140 jpegs and ~25 small mpegs.
Event Viewer shows:

I should also add another failed attempt:
I uninstalled XP SP2 and it kept crashing :(((
Reinstalled XP SP2 :((((
Next step maybe reinstall entire PC with XP... or maybe it's time to learn linux?
