Nortel 6x16 software
I cannot get into the config mode of my 6x16. **CONFIG works, but it will not even register that I am entering a password. I have a spare 6x16 with an older software cartridge, and config mode works fine. I guess my question(s) are: A) are the ksu setting saved on the software cartridge...- deRost

Maximum number of connectors (TIA/EIA)
Is there a maximum number of connectors that can be used on a single run? What I mean is, can I go from switch to patch-panel to spider-box to wall-jack to workstation? Would this violate TIA/EIA standards? How firm are these standards? -
Strange cable problem, network connects and disconnects constantly
Did you switch to B on all sockets, field and patchpanel? If so, that seems odd that it would suddenly work. If you only switched one side to B, then it's possible that the new switch was auto-sensing as crossover or straight. -

Strange cable problem, network connects and disconnects constantly
What brand of jacks (sockets) are you using? Another possible cause could be that the pins in the jack are bent. When you plugged in the phones, did you plug them into the data jacks? If so, the RJ-11 could have bent some adjacent pins, most notably the green and brown pairs on an A (T-568A)...
