ports are open, but connection refused

yhack!! I thought I had it. :P I just had to edit /usr/bin/qmailctl to get it all running at once. ^^; slipped my mind to do that part too. changed this part too: #!/bin/sh exec /usr/local/bin/tcpserver -v 0 110 \ /var/qmail/bin/qmail-popup 127.0.0.1 \ /bin/checkpassword...

ports are open, but connection refused

yeah, I read LwQ to set it up. It doesn't have anything about setting up pop3d, though. I actually..sorta..did it, though. After googleing 20 or so tutorials on setting it up, I finally put a few of them together and mushed up the following scripts if you're interested: pop3d/run #!/bin/sh...

Even tried disabling all my firewalls and trying to telnet to 127.0.0.1 using multiple ports. NOTHING works. wtf.

ports are open, but connection refused

No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

ports are open, but connection refused

I don't know if this is specific to qmail or not. I got everything working okay, but I can't download my mail. I set up Thunderbird to download it and got a connection refused error. Figured maybe my ISP was blocking port 110. So I switched to a high-level port (tried a few)--didn't help. Is...

    Crazy Gaming Computer

I've tried si soft sandra. I'm pretty sure I didn't get any errors with it. "if it works fine under linux..." nope, it doesn't. I already knew it wasn't a driver, though, as I've tried all sorts of them. :/ "or hard drive problem" When I tried to install Fedora, I never even touched the...

    Crazy Gaming Computer

ok, so much for that. Knoppix didn't load at all. It started to, but quit on me--black screen. I tried Slax and got it to working. Unfortunetly, I couldn't find and hardware-checking programs. ^^; But when I hit logout, everything crashed again and I got a weird staticy screen. o.o

    Crazy Gaming Computer

hmm.. well, I wouldn't think anything about the extra space except for the other two errors that hdd gave me. I have Slax and Knoppix on disc. I'll try Knoppix later. Do you know what I could run to check everything? Kinda new to all linux's features.

    Crazy Gaming Computer

Alright, something is really wrong with my computer. Let me start at the beginning of the problems and work forward. First, some things wouldn't install right. Funny, because they install fine on another of my computers. So, after a few things goofed, I knew something was wrong. After...
