Adding custom colors to the default colors

    Terrific.....that sounds almost too easy.

Adding custom colors to the default colors

Quark supplies default colors which can be added to on an individual project. I have a couple of colors that I constantly use in nearly every layout. Is there a way to add these colors as permanent default colors so I don't have to regenerate them each time I start a new project?

    Major Flaw in Quark 7

I know that InDesign is very compatible with Illustrator (and Photoshop) which is a major benefit for anyone who uses those programs consistently. I don't use Illustrator at all, even though I have it. If I need something done in that program I use my outside graphic house to do it. Anyway...

    Major Flaw in Quark 7

I guess it could have something to do with the mix between Leopard and Quark 7. I updated my computer to both Leopard and Quark 7 at the same time. And also MS Office 2008 on the same day as well. But I did get an email from Quark saying they were aware of the problem and were working on it...

    Major Flaw in Quark 7

I am on a G5 Mac (non-Intel) with 10.5.2 O/S. And 7.31 QuarkXpress. I keep getting the version number wrong. But it is the latest version. Just to double check that you aren't having the problem. Create a Quark doc and save it to the desktop. Then create another one with the same name but...

    Major Flaw in Quark 7

Actually, it turns out that it is an issue for everyone. I emailed Quark about it last night and got a response from them that they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix. So all you 7.13 Quark users out there, you need to be extremely careful naming your files and making sure that...

    Major Flaw in Quark 7

I recently installed QuarkXpress 7.3.1 (or whatever the very latest version is) and have found what I consider a serious problem. If I have a saved file and attempt to save another file that I have mistakenly given the same name, Quark no longer warns me that I already have a file by that name...

Creating a high res PDF in Quark

OK...that makes sense. Didn't think of that but now it seems obvious. Thanks for the info. I just proved that I can continue to learn something every day.....

Creating a high res PDF in Quark

Duh....I did read the post about it higher in the thread but I guess it went over my head. I just did look at the "Page Scaling" option which appears to default to "Shrink Large Pages" since I have never used this option before. Sure enough, when it is set to "Shrink Large Pages" it clearly...

Creating a high res PDF in Quark

To: hamphouse -- Hmmm.....that is rather bizarre. I have two printers, a Xerox Phaser 2135 color laser printer and a GCC 1212 b&w laser printer. I test printed a Quark generated PDF on both of them and they are both 93% of the original. There is something really odd going on here.....

Creating a high res PDF in Quark

I just printed out a PDF I created in Quark and sure enough, it is smaller than the original file. In my case it reduced itself to 93% of the original.. I have been using Quark to create PDF's of ads that I have been sending to publications. I haven't noticed that they are smaller than the...

Converting quotes to inch marks in Quark 6.1

There is no doubt that they are inch marks. I just did a new Quark document and typed in the quote key and got inch marks. If I hold down CTRL I get quote marks. So it is set up the way I want it. I want it to always be inch marks because they are correct for numerical measurements but also work...

Converting quotes to inch marks in Quark 6.1

I have a Quark page that I originally created in Quark 5.0 that has been converted to 6.1. It has a lot of numbers given in inches in the text and on the screen the inch marks after each number appear as straight up and down inch marks (") but when it is printed out they appear as quote marks...

    WYSIWYG for Quark Fonts

A few weeks ago I posted a question in here if anyone knew of a Quark Xtension that would allow me to see my fonts in the pull down font menu as they actually appear. No one came up with anything. Today I found something called "youcontrol:fonts" by you software (www.yousoftware.com) that...

WYSIWYG Quark Xtension? Is there one?

I did. Didn't see anything like what I am looking for. Have since talked to several people who are experts on Quark and it appears that no such animal exists.

WYSIWYG Quark Xtension? Is there one?

I have Quark 6.01 and would like to see my typefaces displayed in their actual true form in the pulldown font menu. Years ago when I had Quark 3.0 I had an Xtension that would do this but haven't been able to find one again. Does such an animal exist?

Opening an Indesign file in Quark 6.1

Thanks for the input guys. I just went ahead and bought the Adobe CS suite which gets me the latest version of InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. So now I can open anything. Until they come out with something new..... *lol*

QuarkXpress 5.0 will not save as a pdf.

A very neat little program for creating PDF's from Quark 5 files is called Print to PDF. I believe it is a shareware program that you can get for $10 as I recall. Do a google for: Print to PDF or try: printtopdf

Opening an Indesign file in Quark 6.1

I was talking to a Quark tech guy today on another issue and he happened to mention that it was possible to Open InDesign files in Quark. I know the reverse is possible as I have opened Quark 4.0 files in InDesign. Anyway, my version of InDesign is 2.0.2 and I have a file on my desktop that is...
