We have several users using Cached Mode. On some, but not all users laptops, once they open Outlook and mail is recieved, a reminder will pop up on the screen as an appointment that is overdue. The problem is that the overdue appointment is actually a name from the users contact list.

...nope not a word of it... :)
Seriously. I must have missed that sentence.
What type of servers are they? Branded or whitebox?
Have you tried Belarc Advisor? Or Aida32? (not sure if aida is still around though...)
GO PATRIOTS!!
I don't know a way to do this through the Win2K other than the logon prompt which leaves the username of the last person who logged in.
I do use BG Info http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/bginfo.shtml
Which you can customize to tell you alot of different information. When a user logs...
One of my servers recently stopped allowing me (admin) to access items from the desktop and start menu, the server, running Exch 5.5 sp4 continued to operate normally otherwise. Depending on what icon i try to open i either
Thinking that the admin profile may be corrupt, I logged out and in...
Can you manually go to Windows Update from the cilent and see if there are any updates having to do with SUS (ie BITS 2.0)
My setup was taking a bit to get right, but now is working fine.
GO PATRIOTS!!
What OS are the SUS clients running? Are you using Domain Group Policy to deploy SUS? Or have you added the necessary informatio to the registry on each client?
GO PATRIOTS!!
I was about to upgrade the server to 2k this week and when I got here on Monday morning the RAID controller died!! I replaced with a new controller which was not seeing the drive in ID 0 (I knew the OS was going to get reloaded once the controller crapped out.) so now I also have a bad hard...
I have several PC's here all Intel D865PERL system boards and p4 2.8 processors. These are single processor PC's, however in the device manager, it is showing 2 CPU's installed? They were recently upgraded to XPSP2 (from SP1) I do not know if this was happening before SP2, I stumbled upon it...
I am planning to upgrade the drives on my HP ML370 from 5 18.2GB drives to 5 36.4GB Drives. Currently set up in a RAID 5 into two equal size partitions.
I am not sure of the RAID controller thats installed, so I do not know for sure if it will support saving the current array configuration...

21-0 and counting.
GO SOX!!!
Check on the server if it is still allowed to accept remote connections, you said someone may have been fiddling...
Also I had this happen here recently and it turned out to be a licensing issue (on our Terminal Server we never activated our licenses and on day 90, all remote desktop...
AGA-If this server has been running for a while, the cable may have died or worked itself loose, but you said it was in tight. Try replacing the cable.
Cmegan, your problem sounds like a motherboard issue. Have you replaced the cable? Tried a nother CD ROM drive?
Yes you can, it is just not a true AD enviroment.
The NT4 BDC is a leftover from an old domain that was migrated to the current domain. It is still replicating as a DC with my two 2K DC's. I am leaning towards, removing the server and deleting the object from the Domain Controllers Group...
I had a similar problem here, we needed to restore from older backup. The one we started with was corrupted as well. Our crash was due to a virus issue.
What happened to yours? Hardware or software problem?
Hi chronos thanks,
Yes it is a 2000 AD enviroment. I do not think its possible to run DCPROMO to remove an NT4 BDC. DCPROMO will only work for the server it is being run on. (correct?)What about using the "remove server from domain" option in Server Manager? Not sure if this is what I want to...
