    program error when switching to Index color mode from RGB

    I'm using PS 7 on win xp pro, and everytime I try to convert my document to Index color (Image > Mode > Index), I get, "Could not complete your request because of a program error" Anyone encountered this, or know what's causing it? thanks for any help!
