    Thanks for the replies... :) We use the command chuser -a account_locked=true foo to lock accounts that we don't normally use or for expired accounts. I'm glad to know we can safely lock these default accounts... Thanks! bvgsy

    sendmail log growing due to failed spam attempts

    I don't think someone is trying to SPAM you. It seems to me that your users are sending out messages to YAHOO but YAHOO is denying emails coming from you. In other words, you're the SPAMMER. Please check your configurations to make sure you're not setup to open-relay. There are many bad people...

    It should not. Unless the administrator account was setup as generic root account. If the administrator account can change passwords other than his own, his user id is more likely a 0.

    SSH installation issues

    What version of AIX are you running? Are you using a third-party package manager? Do an lslpp -l|grep -i ssh and let's see what you've got installed. We'll go from there.

    Can anyone please tell me if locking the default system accounts will cause a running system to hung, crash etc? The accounts are: adm sys bin daemon Also, once these accounts are locked, if I need to do any system-specific activity like mksysb, OS restore, etc, will I still be able to do it...
