Don't know about the ramifications, but I've seen SDS working with metadb and data in the slice 2 (not that I was very happy to see that).
If you need to free up partitions temporarily I'd go for the tmp partition (if you have enough RAM).
Hi all,
I've been through tons of contradictory documentation of coexistence between RDAC and Veritas Volume Manager (IBM, LSI and Veritas docs). I'll install a FAStT 600 with 4 HBA direct attached to 2 hosts (each with 2 IBM's HBA) with Veritas Storage Foundation for windows on top. Has anyone...
Also you should use prtvtoc (can't remember the flags) to get the full disk configuration (Also, if anything happens you don't need to manually format the disk). If you're running Veritas VM you'll need a vxprint -ht (Or some more flags to automatize the volume creation).

Don't know in 3.4, but I did that in 4.5 (Win). Besides adding the line in bp.conf, have you added the master as a "restore failover" for the media? (Hosts, master server, restore failover).
Good luck.

Anyone knows why Veritas doesn't recommend this for the daily backups (i.e. Frequency = 24 - <Window_Hours>), but it does recommend something like 4 days for the weekly backups?
Also, any reasons on why 156 Hs (6.5 days) and not 4/5 days?
Thank you!

I set it up on Unix machine with local at and az. Locally everything works fine (except for some bugs). I started (didn't got there yet) to set up a mixed authorization (NT Domain users authenticating agains Unix VxSS Broker).
Just follow the steps of the NBU guide and you'll have it.
If you...
I don't know if you already resolved this.
I'm in the process of testing VxSS.
In the remote PC you'll need to install both clients.
Do not follow the VxSS instructions; check on Sysadmin Guide Vol II "Access Management".
If you have it already working, any comment will be appreciated.

Sure it helps, thanks!
The only thing I'm a little bit confused is how to configure the robot, because the robot will be either hcart or hcart2 type. I know that I can configure barcode rules to accepts both types, but the robot won't complain? (message of unsupported media error).
I'll give it...
BTW I just find out that Storagetek is not supporting the "most secure" connection, that would be connect both B220 to each dual HBA...
If anyone has made this work, please let me know.
Also I was thinking about using RDAC instead of Qlogic failover drives (Any opinion about this?).
Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.
Now my question is if this can be in paralell (1 drive hcart and the other hcart2). Because the robot (Storage Unit) is associated with a drive type also... I'm sure this can be done, but I cannot test it.
Any insights?

Hello,
I (will) have a W2k (or 2k3) server with 2 Qlogic dual HBAs and 2 B220 storagetek arrays server with 4 HBAs each. No SAN in the middle. Santricity and RDAC also.
I have 2 choices:
Most easy : Connect one Qlogic both HBA to one array (spa0 and spb0) and the other HBA to the other array...
Hello,
Does anyone knows if it's supported the use of LTO2 drives with LTO1 tapes?
NBU 4.5 Win:
I configured the LTO2 drives as HCART so it'll use the low density settings, but I have not (yet) LTO2 tapes.
After purchasing them, I'll need to freeze all the LTO1 media and copy to LTO2 or wait...
