I ran into this problem with my phaser 350 and when i first got it (i got if off ebay for $10 plus shipping) it worked great but then i ran into erros and once i corrected them all (mostly little plugs that weren't in all the way) i got really bad prints. I had this same problem with my printer that i bought off ebay for 10 dollars. I bought the pdf service manual and it turns out that when i disassembled it i found a small connection was not plugged in all the way on the pcb that controlled the head.
