Printing consumes computer resources
The printer consumes all or at least most of the computer resources while printing. Other applications will work during the printing process but very, very slowly. I verified that SPOOLING has been checked and I even checked PRINT BACK TO FRONT just to make sure.- holdridgehomes

Impact printer under XP eats out the CPU time
I'm having the same problem printing to a Canon BJ230 and the problem was there before I moved to XP. The printing seems to consume all of the computer resources - might as well go get a coffee while waiting for the print to complete.
