    Problems with Yahoo sign-in sites.

BCastner, Unfortunately, my time was correct. I checked in my BIOS just to be sure. Actually, you know, the only thing that I can think of (and it probably makes no sense.) Sony shipped these laptops with horrible batteries. Off the power cable, I have maybe a 20 min battery life. I had the...

    Problems with Yahoo sign-in sites.

Amy, Thanks for the reply. This is going to sound weird, but, I didn't change anything (again)...and the problem has since disappeared. I have no earthly clue what happened. But I didn't use the laptop for about a week, and then started it up one day, and whammo, everything is working as it...

    Problems with Yahoo sign-in sites.

I'm still having these problems. Does anyone have any idea or solutions? I am able to access all yahoo functions from my other two computers. One running XP pro, and the other XP home, both using IE 6.0 with the latest patches. This computer running XP Home, with IE 6.0 and Mozilla Firefox...

    Problems with Yahoo sign-in sites.

I've tried using Firefox now. And I can log in to yahoo sites. But the pictures still aren't showing up. Any idea please?

    Problems with Yahoo sign-in sites.

Ok, I posted this on another board that I'm on everyday, but it's not necessarily a computer-tech forum. My system specs are: Sony Vaio PCG-FX210, running Windows XP Home SP1A, IE 6.0 fully updated. I checked some of the other threads in this forum about the "red x's for pictures," but none of...

Cannot browse/email/IM, but can ping (did search)

BCastner, Worked like a charm. Why is it when I ran the WinsockXPFix tool it didn't fix this? I followed the steps exactly. Or does it not address winsock2? I just want to thank you again. I'm about to call the rep I spoke to at my ISP and inform him of what it took.

Cannot browse/email/IM, but can ping (did search)

Ah ok. Yes, that is definately selected. I've also tried it with both automatic DNS and manual DNS, no joy. I've removed and reinstalled TCP/IP as well.

Cannot browse/email/IM, but can ping (did search)

I'm not sure why it's disabled. From what little I know, I thought DHCP was disabled for dial-up. But this was done automatically, the only thing I changed was telling XP to redial automatically. How do I turn it on if it's supposed to be on?

Cannot browse/email/IM, but can ping (did search)

Yes, I have tried two other DNS servers, still no go. I am using the same internet connection on the laptop I'm currently on, so I don't think it's something on the ISP end. Definately on my machine's end. This is a stand alone system with dial-up, I normally run ZoneAlarm for the firewall. I...

Cannot browse/email/IM, but can ping (did search)

I have just tried the Winsock fix, and it did not help. I have run IPconfig and here are my results: Windows IP Configuration Host name....citadel Primary DNS Suffix....blank Node Type...Unknown IP Routing enabled....No WINS Proxy Enabled....No PPP adapter EV1: Connection SPecific DNS...

Cannot browse/email/IM, but can ping (did search)

http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?SQID=860518&SPID=584&page=1 Sorry to post a link to another thread, but I put it up over in Dial-up. This forum however seems to be a more appropriate spot for it. I'm really lost on what to do about this system. Help, please! My sanity thanks you.

Can Ping, Cannot browse (Wit's end)

Also, I have searched extensively, but my lack of being able to describe the problem with an error message is making Google useless. I've also gone through all 5 pages of threads in this forum. Sorry for the reply, I couldn't find the edit button.

Can Ping, Cannot browse (Wit's end)

Hi, I'm new, so I'll try to be as short, and concise as possible. I am running Windows XP Home SP1, and using a USR 56k modem. I can dial up and connect fine. However, I cannot browse or connect to my instant messenger programs. I can successfully ping, but that is it. I called my ISP tech...
