Suppose a.tcl contains
puts "Hi"
and b.tcl contains
exec tclsh a.tcl
Now, when I run tclsh b.tcl, it just retruns to the % prompt without giving any output. Why's that? How can I achive that. I don't want to use source command, as I'll have a different interpreter than the one I'm...

and

But regexp is not able to substitute $patrn to d until I use "", and if I use "", it doensn't allow me to search for a...

I want to use regular expressions to find the index in the string that matches the pattern.
someting like:
string first <regular expresion> <string>
e.g. string first {^abc(" ")*$} "abc rf"
blah blah blah

I went to the VB pages at MSDN, and got this feeling of replacing [$cell Item] with [$cell Value]. AND IT WORKED!. I do thank you. But just a little question. If I open a excel sheet through tcom, can I know how many rows and cloumns are existing in that excel sheet?

I wish to read an excel sheet table from tcl version 8.3. Is it possible to do so. I've not worked very extensively in tcl though. It's an urgent requirement. If not in excel, then reading tables from .doc files? I would be heartly greateful to you all. Thanks in advance. :-)
