Is it possible to recover from a Linux backup server "down" to a Windows 2000/2003 client? I am able to recover data when browsing on the Windows client server but not from Linux server to Windows client.
I have a share on a Windows NT server that I want to output the share permissions on the folder to a file. Is it possible to output the users/groups in the share on both the sharing and security tab?
I do not know if I am using the right forum but....
I am looking for a script to poll a directory for a file, example.txt, and if the script finds the file ftp the file to another directory.
Currently our backup schedule is incrementals six days a week and a full backup on the seventh. I want to change this to a differential (L1) six days a week and a full on the seventh.
I understand that my differentials will be longer and larger but I like the protection of the differentials...
Maverick, all of the problems I have ever had with Windows clients have been DNS related. When this occurs I usually add their entry to the hosts file on the server. But on this particular client I added the name of the server into the client hosts file, and it worked.
Thanks for help.
Maverick, thanks for the information. I was able to complete a manual save from the client but I am not able to run a scheduled backup from the server.
AG100, the error guide points to a space problem but both the client and server have plenty of disk space. Thanks.
Host OS: Red Hat Linux
Client OS: Windows 2000
I have a Windows client that will not backup successfully (out of about 100 others). It writes the backup to the tape then it fails when it tries to write the index and gets the following error: "Cannot determine status of the backup process. Use...
The long version is it is more of a Networker restore problem. Here is the situation:
We are trying to restore, through Networker's uasm command some Windows data. The Networker server is Linux. We mounted the Windows file system in Linux but were unable to recover the files to Windows. We kept...
Thanks Tony.
We have restored, from a backup, a large group of files to a Linux server. The files though are Windows files, so when they were restored they were restored as:
"D:\Test\alpha.doc"
"D:\Test\beta.doc"
"D:\Test\zeta.doc"
I need to rename the files to:
alpha.doc
beta.doc
zeta.doc
I have restored a lot of files from a Linux server and I need to change their naming conventions to a Windows format. Example:
I need to change the Linux file D:\Test\test.doc to test.doc to copy it to a Windows server.
Is there any way to change it in Linux or Windows?

When I try to back up Exchange 5.5 to Networker 7.2 I get the following messages:

That's the most puzzling thing, neither log points to a particular directory. When NBU starts a backup, does it write a log on the client box, and does that directory need rights from the master?
Thanks for the reply Q? Are you Omega?
