smoom,
I may have mispoke, NEC has never been highly regarded for their networking equipment. I always favored Nortel, Juniper, and Cisco of course. That said, I should say most NEC phone vendors, in my experience, are not great with networking.
Like you said, due to promotions, upgrading to...
belevedere,
Would you consider the ShoreTel system to be comparable? My biggest gripe about NEC is they are not very transparent about the system documentation or software. The NEC product site is hard to navigate and full of dead links. Most information is provided from an authorized NEC...
I know I'm asking this question in an NEC forum so I expect NEC affinity.
We've had a 2000 IVS for over 10 years now. Our options to upgrade are buy a 2000 IPS on the second hand market or upgrade to a sv8300. My IT consultant's firm has become a ShoreTel vendor and made a pretty good sell...
Thanks Minue!
I have a Catalyst 2950 LRE in my office I know real well and a couple Aironet 1250 AP. But that is my limited experience with the Cisco product line. Thanks for the tip.
I'm looking to find some equipment in order to build a lab to study for my CCENT and CCNA. Can anyone recommend some Cisco models that I could find on the cheap used? I'm looking for a pair or routers and a switch. I've tried the router sims and they are not the same.
Interesting since this is what I always assumed about their drives and firmware. However, another company we do business with has an s550 and filled it with off the shelf Maxtor 750GB SATA drives. The uptime for them has been over 10 months.
Looking at the boot screen on the StoreVault it seems to be standard x86 hardware, ONTAP even has a grub menu. I'm sure adding a USB pci card so I could get keyboard and mouse input and a bootable USB thumbdrive might help in getting FreeNAS installed. ZFS here I come.
So, since NetApp decided to axe the SV line and leave me with a $6000 unsupported SAN/NAS I've had a rough time tracking down drive trays. I tried kludging a tray with an off-the-shelf SATA drive, but the SV didn't like it and refused to boot ONTAP with the drive installed. The HD lights went...
I have our ancient Mitel NuPoint Messenger/Baypoint VM attached to a serial to ethernet converter. I can telnet to the machine fine, but I'm getting double carriage returns every time I hit enter key. Sames goes for the letters. The menu system is just letter-based, so if I hit (M) to modify a...
ok,all is good as far as the telco stuff goes.
I've never setup a new extension before, I've only maintained existing ext and have moved them.
I had 2 open LENs that I've assigned to these new DID numbers.
So, I set incoming number 1182 to ext.6182 (CMD760>1182>6182)
I went into...
So, I had my clec port some AT&T DS0 lines to our PRI.
Now, now do I port them to an extension?
These numbers all have extensions of 1182,1183,1184
What I have done:
CMD>760>1182>6182
CMD>10>6182
When I call I get a number is disconnected message. O_o
This port was issued at 10AM yesterday and...
I have 3 1240AGs setup; one as root-bridge and the other two as clients and repeaters.
About a month ago weird things started happening. Using the web admin interface, under association; each access point thinks it is associated with another static ip on the network and another MAC address...
Wow, I did not know about that. I just ignored all the AD-XX stuff because I assumed it all involved cabinet space. Good to know. I'll check it out.
Thanks!
We need a new voicemail server/system. Currently we have a Mitel NuPoint Messenger that connects to the NEAX via serial MCI. Any recommendations? We have around 75 extensions and 90 mailboxes. I've been looking at the Panasonic VM. We do not have any room in our cabinets for the NEC AD-8 or...
I'm still a little fuzzy (despite having the manual) on the dial plan CMD 200.
EG: How can I lookup what *03 is in our dialing plan?
Also, the option to voicecall an extension has disappeared from the triangular softkeys when ringing an extension.
Thanks,
D
