Has anyone seen any documents that say I need "x" media servers for "y" clients, or "y" tape drives, or "xy" gb of data, or "y" policys ?
We've been working on some intermittent connection issues with support and we think our media servers might be over-loaded, but the powers-that-be are looking...
I have a Windows master server but multiple Unix media servers. So I have the admincmd directory on the unix guys. Anyhoen know of a unix command that I could run to list the policys that are curfrently "active" ?
Right now, we're pushing 200 seperate policys, for a bunch of reasons. Mgmt wants a seperate policy for each client for tracking purposes. We have multiple policys for each oracle instance due to different retention cirteria that rman can't specify from that end. Seperate policys for the sql or...
I've found thast the "bpclimagelist" command will give me some information on the jobs previously run for this client, but it's lacking information on any jobs "in progress". Anyone know if a client can see what's currently running on their behalf ?
We have our weekly backups setup with a frequency of 1-day but a start window only open for about 8-hours one day on either Saturday or Sunday. This was changed after we had problems when someone ran a full backup during the week for a special occasion, and the weekly didn't run the following...
I would like for a client to be able to list the backups in progress for that client, but only for itself. A couple of the NT SysAdmins want to be able to see if there's any backups running for their clients right now, or how the last backup did. Their clients aren't media servers, so they don't...
NetBackup 4.5 fp7 - Windows master server - unix clients
I have an exsisting policy with the normal full and incremental schedules. The user wants the capability to setup an additional schedule, with a different retention, that can only be run on Sun from 3am to 5am, and only if they want to run...
We have a seperate policy for each client with the client-name as the policy-name. There may be additional policys for some clients such as clientname-DB (for the SQL servers), and the oracle database clients have a bunch of clientname-Hinstancename (Hot backup of instance)...
I currently create an xls daily listing information on jobs run-okay/not-run-okay/should-have-run-but-didnt/etc. I have been asked to expand the report to show the media used for each job. I don't see any way in bpimagelist or bpimmedia to list media limited to a single jobid. And it doesn't...
What fixed the problem for us was setting "LOCKED_FILE_ACTION = SKIP". Looks like we were hitting alot of locked files in a particular file one right after the other.
I have a Windows Master Server (NB 4.5FP6), 2 Windows Media servers that all the Windows clients use for backups, and 5 Solaris media Servers that are only used to backup themselves Lan-Free. One of the Solaris servers constantly times out (41) when it's doing a backup. Doesn't seem to be tied...
Netbackup 4.5 - using RMAN to backup up a 500gb oracle database. Took about 20 tape-drive-hours to backup, spread across 2 devices. But only 10 tape-drive-hours to restore. I would have expected the restore to take longer. What is your experience with large restores, do they take longer than the...
Has anyone ever written a positive verification script ?
By that I mean, based on the policies and their schedules, a bunch of client backups should have run last night. It's easy enough to list all the jobs that ran last night and see which ones died. But.....
suppose for example a certain...
I have the same requirement. I'm doing a bpdbjobs -all_columns and I'm hoping I can do some comparisons on the start-time field (once I figure out what format it's in) to get the last 24 hours worth of data. But it would be nice to be able to specify a time-frame on bpdbjobs like you can in...
Thanks Stumper, I had checked out the link listing all the command-line-options for bpdbjobs before but didn't see the list of the columns in it. Your second post was just what I needed. Where did you find the information ?
Where is the descriptions of what the columns returned by the "bpdbjobs -all_columns" are ?
It looks like it returns "all columns" in the "jobs database", but I can't find the layout of the jobs database.
Looking for the info to write some scripts.
Had some problems with one of our SunOS 5.6 systems, and now when they try to fire up NetBackup, we get an error in the log fie "bpdbm.bin unable to read attribute definitions: licensed use has been exceeded".
We're guessing there's some leftover locks hanging around from the crash and Netbackup...
I have a need to run some Netbackup reporting scripts on a Unix client accessing the Netbackup-Master-Server on a Windows box. How do I get the admincmd directory (along with the bperror cmd) on the client box.
Since the Master uis Windows and I'm a unix-script-man, I'm hoping I can do what I...
I've been away from NetBackup for awhile but I have a new task to ...
(1) Backup some Windows client systems to a disk pool (instead of to tape) to reduce the backup window.
(2) Then migrate the disk-backup-pool to tape outside the backup window
(3) For a restore, can it be done directly from...
