Wanted to let you all know what happened. The user's profile was corrupted so we created a new profile and moved over his documents and then deleted his old profile and he's now able to open his registry editor. Thanks for all your help fellow techies :o)

I suspected possible malware and I also suspected that perhaps his user account has been corrupted. I'm going to give this user a call and see if he can access the registry through another admin acct and if he can't then I definitely suspect malware. I guess great minds DO think alike :o)
