Dead Spanned Volume
Its not worth it at this point then. Its either the 2nd or 3rd drive tahts dying. Right now Im just trying to backup wha tI can and Im gonna wipe the good drives and start again. this time I think Ill go with RAID5 :-)- lordbelial

Dead Spanned Volume
I have a 1Tb spanned volume (5x 200gb) on a Windows 2003 server. Recently, one of the drives died. I still have access to the spanned volume but it is painfully slow and frequently freezes. If I take out the dead drive, Windows will not mount the volume. Is there anyway to take out the dead...- lordbelial

How to speed up a spanned volume?
I have 5 200gb hard drives in a spanned volume. I know its the really cheap way to RAID but up until lately its been working fine. Lately after its gotten about 80% full (800gb) its starting to get really slow, sometimes taking minutes to view a directory that has alot of folders. Anyone have...- lordbelial
