Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that, and screen shots still look muddy when attempting to PDF. I wonder if there's a tool out there that makes screen captures look cleaner, or if screen captures need to be saved to a certain kind of format to look nice in PDF?
No matter what program I use, Frame, Word, Quark, InDesign, when I try to PDF a page with a screen shot, the screen shot looks awful.
Is there a trick to saving the screen shot in a specific format to make it look clear when it appears in a PDF file?

Thanks for your speedy response. I think you are right that it was the file that was corrupt and recreated a new doc and pasted all the txt and graphics frames into the new pages and it works just fine. This job has been a nightmare - 1 step forward and 2 steps back!!
