Sometimes the modem is there sometimes it's gone??
Sometimes when I start the comp it can't find the modem then I just click "add hardware" and istall modem. The modem is in the list so I just choose that modem and then connects to Microsofts page that you can find when you are looking for error and marked the radiobutton the modem is installed...
