I need to copy around 50 filesystems(vxfs) which is around 2 TB of data onto another diskgroup with a similar structure. Could anyone please advice the fastest way i could do this?

I have faced similar problems in the past. Most of the time it is due to reverse lookup problems. You said its nothing to do with DNS , could you try removing the dns entry in the /etc/nsswitch.conf file against hosts so that it justs reads the host file for DNS resolution. Maybe you could force...
It is possible that the /dev/pts symbolic links to the /devices/pseudo files are missing or corrupt.
Running /usr/sbin/devlinks or performing a reconfiguration boot,using boot -r, will recreate the symbolic links.
You may have to increase the Number of PTY on your system.You can do
that by adding a line in /etc/system file
set pts_count=128 (Default is 48).
You can check the pts on your system by giving command:
ls -1 /dev/pts* | wc -l

When i FTP a file to a server i want the default permission of the file to be set to 664 but instead it is set to 644. I tried setting umask to 002 in my profile with no luck.
