IE 6; unable to open emails

Bcastner you are a life-saver! Firstly, thanks for the statistics on the CD vs Windows Update, they are rather scary! I will still wait for the CD and will re-do the SP2 thing when that arrives. In the meantime, something you wrote in response to another post (on ActiveX and Windows...

IE 6; unable to open emails

I ordered the CD, I will wait for it. I wonder if you have any reason (or experience, such as other instances of "bum install of SP2") for this suggestion. Microsoft says: "This CD includes the same Service Pack 2 software that is available for download from Windows Update". The web update...

IE 6; unable to open emails

bcastner, It happens with .doc, .xls and .pdf attachments. I am assuming it happens for all (but can confirm above 3). The "About Internet Explorer" info is: Version: 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 Cipher Strength: 128-bit Update versions: ;sp2; Thanks

IE 6; unable to open emails

Just to clarify the issue i have run into. IE can read the emails but does not open any attachments. When it attempts to open an attachment it freezes (does not respond..), and most of the time I end-up closing the process. Thanks.

IE 6; unable to open emails

I have the same problem identified by CHoggarth. I am running XP-home SP2. I have removed SP2 and re-installed it, but no luck. I have used Sophos anti-virus and several anti-spyware programs and the computer appears free of virus and spyware. I have tried both suggestions (by bcastner and by...

    IE6 Browser Issue

Desperate measures: I got to the windowsupdate site (in a roundabout way via SUS) and reloaded SP1 for XP. Miraculously, the problems have disappeared and no new ones have shown up. windowsupdate works, no program denies access because i use an "unknown browser" (i use IE6.0-SP1)...

    IE6 Browser Issue

Thanks bcastner, but there is still some way to go. I downloaded and installed the msmxl3usa.msi file (base XML, as suggested) and that did, in fact, permit the application of the KB832414 hotfix, (see above). Problem is that, after all that and a reboot, the xmsxml3 error persists and windows...

    IE6 Browser Issue

I applied the KB832414 hotfix suggested by bcastner in the last post. I saved it to disk but cannot apply it as it returns an error: "an error occured while setup was trying to verify the version of M/S Data Access Components currently installed" The error log is in a file...

    IE6 Browser Issue

I tried the suggestion by bcastner (thanks!), installed 831167, without any effect upon the problems. Here's the crazy stuff. I reverted to a very early edition of IE 6.0, and the problems went away. However, windowsupdate automatically downloaded all the patches since time immemorial. I...

    IE6 Browser Issue

I, too, am getting the error: msxml3.dll error '80072f76' The requested header was not found /library/toolbar/3.0/js.asp, line 36 reported by Auri and others earlier. I believe it started to happen after I downloaded some patch from windowsupdate but it continues to persist even though I...

Efficient way to use 40 COM components

We have created 40 components which run under MTS. Out of 40, 15 components were on ASP and rest will have the reference of others. We have used "New" to initiate the components. e.g DIM clsobj as New PrjCls.clsobj Is this method is efficent than CreateObject for MTS components...
