The error 2 means "The system cannot find the file specified."
The files may be getting deleted while it was doing its initial scan of what to replicate and when it got to that file it was gone and freaked out.
The green lights mean that data has been replicated recently.
We have set up...
The Full is the database, the incs are Only the transaction logs and are linked to the full of course, after a successful inc backup the logs are requested to be deleted by exchange.
The DB is only touched by the full
When you do the restore you can do just the full or have the option to restore...
You could set up a report to show what tapes are used each day by what jobs;have it email you daily and then keep these to use at a later date to help make it easier for you

Compression ratio can be seen by looking at the job properties (if not running look at jon history) and selecting the details tab at the end of data size it will tell you.

Maglib directories are excluded by default, you are better to look at the aux copy way as this will allow you to use restore the data from the media in a single restore attempt.
If you *really* want to look at replicating the data you may want to look at CDR and set up a replicated maglib, or...
If your retention is set correctly,
*Remember it adds one: (N +1) ie 1 cycle will hold 2 copies of the full
the other factor could be that you have ticked "managed disk space" which tells cv hold them for longer if you can until disk space gets to a predefined limit you have set
hope this helps...
No as the data is still available on the secondary copy, since Simpana was the one to age off the first copy it knows that it is still on the second version which it flags as the "primary copy".
I have customers that have spool copies set up and the incrementals run fine and don’t get converted...
Hi Hindgrinder, What you have done is cclose but there are a few more steps:
1. Open ports 8400-8403 (some are needed only for some systems but lets say all for easy of setup)
2. Open a range or ports eg (8600-8620) {for the data streams more clients backing up at same time more streams needed...
Hi Mosschops1
to browse across mutiple indexes you can you use the search/find option instead of the browse, my opinion not as nice as the browse feature but we have had to do this for some customers that has lets some rules "run wild" :)

No Worries you will probably find it just the schedule not running but i will go through the process in full.
First you go down to your storage policy and pick the one you wat to create the copy of (we'll call this SP_Exchange)
In SP_Exchange you want to rick click on the SP and select all...
if your using CV already then Commvault has the advantage of the single interface managing the clients and the data for both the backups and the archive, I like the CV approach as to how it handles the data for the DR prospective by allowing copies of the data to be easily distributed to...
I usually dont recomment media agents as VMs as when it comes to DR it becomes alot more fun to get it going if you lose the ESX host and then need to recover image from the backup tape for the Media agent but you need to build the MA to recover the tape backup unless you use Media Explorer (...
Simpana (V7) can now support multiple instances installed on the same host (it does require 2 licences) but I would only do this in some rare scenarios, as you have to take into account truncation of log files etc.
I would agree and defiantly recommend the Aux copy method as it does exactly...
Since they have already been assigned via previous backup/discovery you have to manually move them, new mailboxes will be put correctly in the right subclient.
From each subclient add the clients via discovery you want in that subclient (even though you can change it to say other sub clients...
Based on the above figures, DB based subclients is not a bad way to start and if you find that this is still not enough you can look at breaking it up further.
The "filters" way using auto-discovery is also a fairly easy to set up if you do need to break them up further down the track but always...
Inherently, Microsoft Exchange mailbox backups are slower than database backups. This is due to the fact that, in order to back up mailboxes on a 'brick-level,' Commvault has to impersonate an Exchange mailbox account and authenticate for each individual mailbox item, whereas a database backup...
While its possible to backup your Exchange DB from the passive it would be a bit harder to do this with Mailbox backups as even with a mail proxy you are pointing this to the Virtual Mailbox node which would then access the data from the active node, this is due to the fact that the mail proxy...
Yep I have implemented it for a number of customers and it all does come down to planning, what you want to replicate and the data pipe size are key to setting it up correctly.
We had customers where it works fine and then they throttle their data connection later on and then their data starts...
