1) Just to finish off on my post, the disk space problem seems to have in fact been the problem. Since clearing out the drive and freeing up the disk space, it has been backing up fine.
2) Sorry I can't help on this one but does that report indicate that it found a store and just didn't back...
Just an FYI for everyone who replied:
Files have been deleted, IMC cycled and all is right in the system partition again (or until someone turns up the logging again).

Unfortunately, the user is travelling and I have no idea what client they are using. No IE version #, OS, Patch levels, or anything of that sort. I don't even know (yet) if they get the error on every machine they use or just the one they reported the problem on.

New to the forums but there seem to be a number of people with a clue (unlike me). Exchange 5.5 running the IMC only on win2k (mailboxes are on a separate server).
So there is this huge 1.4 GB log file sitting there laughing at me and is what I think caused my backup jobs to fail...
Just in case it wasn't interesting enough before, last night's backup ran without any problems. I did absolutely nothing to modify the job or the settings anywhere. Hmmm, wait, while I was writing this, it reminded me of the fact that I DID have to clear some disk space on the Exchange server...
