    ATA-4 VS. ATA-6???

Will a hard drive with a interface listed as: IDE Ultra ATA-6, work in a computer that had a hard drive listed as: IDE Ultra ATA-4? The computer is a notebook, HP pavilion N5195. I'm not sure if these two numbers(i.e ATA-6 and ATA-4) are compatiable. Thanks for any insight.

Hard Drive Failure?? Is it bad RAM?

Four year old laptop is eating hard drives!!!!

Could heat cause this? I just noticed that the fan is jerking. It looks like it wants to move, but can't. It runs at start-up and I believe thats it. Also, there is nothing between it and the cpu. (heat transfer stuff, just metal to metal). Thanks Dennis

Confused whether drive is bad or good

I seem to have the same problem. My laptop keeps working, not working, working, and finally operating system not found. It sometimes recongizes the hard drive in BIOS, and sometimes doesn't. Are these your symptoms also? If so, what did you end up doing? Thanks Dennis

Hey, I've posted another post before, but no answers. Can a hard drive fail (create bad sectors, physcal damage, etc) from having a bad RAM module? If so, how do you check it? Thank you for any ideas. WBT
