I'd reload the BIOS and if that doesen't work, replace the motherboard. It's almost certainly a problem with the motherboard slot as you say that you are getting the display intermittently when you try pressing the reset switch.
There is no noticable change in quality upto at least 600 times. I think you should safely be able to rewrite at least 1000 times or more. Technically speaking, each time you write, the recording layer of the disc gets thinner and thinner until there comes a time when it wears out completely...
Which version of RedHat did you install? Did RedHat detect and install your PCI graphics adapter drivers automatically during the installation process or did you manually force install the drivers after the RedHat installation?
