How do I count the number of days in a month?

Hi, I am trying to create a variable in my report which will return the number of times each day (Mon, Tue, Wed...) appears in a date range. My report wants to show average sales made by day of week (DOW). So to do this I need to take the total sales made on Mondays for instance, and divide it...

    Hours between two dates

Does your date measure contain details of time? eg DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM:SS If not, try applying the function DayNumberOfYear() to your date measure, then subtract one date from the other and multiply by 24. This will give you the number of hours between two dates.

Why cant I see all of my report????!!!!!!

Hi bensonpa, Thanks for your speedy reply! Yes, I use the NoFilter function extensively in my reports, but the problem I have is that Business Objects is not ignoring any data, Rather it is just not displaying elements (sales regions) where there are no values (revenue) for the filtered month.

Why cant I see all of my report????!!!!!!

OK, just when I thought I had Business Objects all figured out, this one came along... I have a simple crosstab report that shows revenue generated by sales region. The xtab has 6 columns. The first two show revenue achieved last month, one column for current year and one for previous year. The...

    Limit rows per page

A sollution could be to query a column to the DB with the page number, and then to make a section from the page number, starting each section in a new page. But the problem is that the page number information is not in the DB. If you think this original idea of yours will do the trick, you can...

Hi Paul, Thanks for your interest, let me fill you in on my situation. I produce warious MI data and reports for the UK based regional airline that I work for. Currently, our EIS is in the process of being updated and BOb is the reporting tool we have chosen as a part of this. Therefore, the...

    Unnecessary Calculations? Extensive Recalc Time?

That is a good suggestion John, but would I not lose any drill hierachy on the report is if was generated on a snapshot of the database? My reports are based on airline data, and allow the user to view the report initially at a route overview level, and then drill down through various levels...

    Wot? No Ranking?!

I have a simple report detailing sales by type of product by point-of-sale (POS). I have used Kloppers dynamic date filter (posted Dec 14 200, thanks Klopper!) to show only last months sales. Thus I have created a local measure <Total sales last month> The report is sectioned on the POS...

    Unnecessary Calculations? Extensive Recalc Time?

Many thanks for your swift response Bob. I'll certainly be trying out your suggestions! I think number 4 may be particularly helpful... Re: point 6, Awkwardly, many of the reports I produce compare things like sales activity over a number of years. So although my report will only actually...

    Unnecessary Calculations? Extensive Recalc Time?

I am interested to learn if anybody else has suffered the following problem... BOb seems to recalculate my reports when a recalculation is not apparently necessary. For example, BOb will recalc each time I move between the 'pages' in my reports. Why? No data has changed, and surely BOb can...
