Well interesting....
And I won't be too mad at you, because I've failed the 640-901 two times now in the last two weeks. If I had passed, well that would have been different. (Got a 650 the first time and a 673 the second time.) And on top of that, my ccna just had its 3rd anniversary on...
Just took the 640-901 test and failed! I usually do pretty well on these exams but used the transcender practice tests and I don't think that they were on the mark. A passing score would have been 700, but I only got a 650. I felt so unfamiliar with the material that I am surprised I did as...
Woa! Now don't try to scare me please! I'm not entirely sure what the 642 refers to, but it does look like doing the 640-901 will indeed recertify. /Joel
Thanks FancyPete,
OK, that's what I'm doing. You'll think me crazy, but I bought the transcender on Friday, and I've been shoving it all in my head as fast as I can. I hope to take the 640-901 by the middle of this week. If I happen not to pass, then I'll take one more shot at it next week...
Is the routing exam now called "Building Scalable Internetworks" or something like that? Well heck, now I'm getting all excited. When my ccna expires (a matter or days, I think), will I need to retake it in order to get the ccnp?
Thanks again. /Joel
Hey thanks for the info Dimo!
I didn't realize that taking one of the ccnp exams would automatically renew the ccna! Is there any grace period on the ccna expiration, or is that it? Do you happen to know what the current exam test number for the routing exam is? Just out of curiousity, what...

While I'm at it, let me tell you my certification woes and perhaps someone can advise me on how I ought to proceed.
My ccna will expire later this month. With the remaining time, there is no way that I'll have time at this point to study up for a recertification (unless there is some sort of...
Hi,
I know cisco has a free tftp server download somewhere, but I can't seem to find it! Can anyone help point me to the correct link so I can get at it? Thanks, Joel
Hi Chris,
I'll take a look at this the next time I am remoting in and let you know. But I'm not sure if I communicated this properly. I don't have any trouble clients really--since I performed my firt upgrade on the application, ALL my clients are reporting the incorrect product version. If...
Hi Chris,
Thanks for you suggestions. I have checked the sinv32.log and it looks pretty good to me. It says that the Inventory schedule successfully updated and that the Inventory cycle info also successfully updated. The only error is:
ERROR: FindFirstFileW() Failed on \\?\C:\System Volume...
The only other information I can provide at this point is
that the sms client service is unable to start on
servername1 due to a logon failure. The same service on
servername2 IS running, but I am too terrrified to stop it
for fear that it will never start up again!
We have one particular application that we wish to inventory on each of our sms win 2k clients. Unfortunately, the Software inventory agent is not reporting the correct version of the executable file. I have the agent set to perform an inventory every 24 hours so it is being updated regularly...
Every 5 minutes I have been receiving two application
event log errors as described exactly in MS KB article
247482.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;247482
"Error Message:Security Policies Are Propagated with
Warning. 0x534"
I followed the steps in the...
I need some good quick points to describe the major advantages that SMS has for software upgrades and inventory versus active directory providing these and other services.
Any thoughts would be most helpful!
Thanks for all the input. I'm a little confused though. Since I am able to ping computers by name, then doesn't this mean that name resolution is working properly? I was thinking that the problem had to do more with microsoft browsing, ie the computer browsing service.
To provide more...
I've got a workgroup of win 2k, win xp, and win 98
workstations and one win2k server in the mix. The problem
has to do with browsing. The computers are all able to
ping each other by name, but they do not all see one
another in my network places (network neighborhood). Some
computers see...
Thanks Guys. Rod, I found this article yesterday and it did indeed fix it immediately!
My problem at the moment is that my second domain controller that I want to serve as a distribution and client access point has something wrong with its client installation. In the SMS icon in control...
