Free anti-virus software
agree with you sensible people about avg and kerio etc. worth pointing out to those not in the know that you can use kerio on internet gateways and clients too. Is it the only free one that does that?- mikeymikey

avg restore disks
went to see a client who had already called in a "professional" to get rid of blaster worm(apparently). He used avg restore floppies for some reason and the client is left with a hard drive with no apparent file system. It shows as ntfs from fdisk, and it registers as healthy disk but...- mikeymikey

Dropper virus in System Volume Information folder
I had same problem with clients pc. AVG pointed to it intermittently, and never on a full scan. Had to give up in the end and reloaded OS.lovsan-a this time.- mikeymikey

Dell Optiplex drives
I`ve had probs with hard drives in older optiplexes as the setting from factory is cable select. Set to master etc. can cure it.- mikeymikey
