Event Group Role - Acknolwedge only

I want to modify users' permissions such that they can acknolwedge events but not close them. I'm trying to find the role: super, senior, admin, user. That will allow that.

Help with westell 327 DSL modem/router

Enabling NAT had no effect and the semantics of the port forwarding is not clear in the limited documentation or help files I could find

Help with westell 327 DSL modem/router

I assume you mean SmartFTP as an application not the SmartFTP server or Windows FTP services. If that's the case, yeah I can do that too. This would be an FTP server and that Verizon is not too keen on, apparently.

Help with westell 327 DSL modem/router

No the linksys is out of the loop. I did some other research and apparently it's an ISP issue to an extent. Verizon does not allow traffic on ports 20/21 for their DSL/FiOS customers. (imagine that?) I found someone else on another page who configured different ports to pass the FTP traffic...

    stopping services via vb script

Awesome. I'll try a couple of services stop & start and then see if I can roll it into a more inclusive script. ...no I don't have a lot of vbs experience.

Help with westell 327 DSL modem/router

I have my DSL working like a champ. The provided Westell 327 is not playing nice with my FTP server. With my previous cable modem, I simply configured my linksys or netgear router to allow traffic on ports 20/21 for FTP. Now this thing's graphical interface says it allows FTP by default, no...

    stopping services via vb script

I should clarify. There is an application that utilizes about 2 dozen services, sometimes the application hangs and the mfg recommends stopping the services in a particular order, then restarting the services. They have a batch file that works great if you are logged onto the server via remote...

    stopping services via vb script

OK I assume I would use the "service Name", or would I use the "display name"? Or does it matter?

    Stop/Start application Services

I'm looking to stop a number of application specific services, that need to be stopped and started in a particular order on a somewhat frequent basis. The goal here would be a script that "power users" can use to stop services for one application without a Remote Control Destkop session. I...

    stopping services via vb script

Not sure if this is the right forum. I'm looking to stop a number of application specific services, that need to be stopped and started in a particular order on a somewhat frequent basis. The goal here would be a script that "power users" can use to stop services for one application without a...

    w3wp.exe Proc utilization

We have a couple of IIS servers with w3wp.exe running in the background and it is hogging resources. I've done a couple of google searches on it and I'm lead to believe the exe is part of IIS, though I can find conflicting information that would suggest it's a seperate exe that only monitors...

    FTP Logging

Found it. ...duh. Ok the logging box was checked and I found the folder with the logs. Next question: In the logs I have two entries that are kinda disturbing: Since I have changed the administrator account for security, this looks like an attempt to hack the server. #Fields: time c-ip...

    FTP Logging

Yeah,...should have clarifie that. FTP via IIS.

    FTP Logging

I'm kinda new to this. I have an FTP server setup with no anon. access, I'd like to log when a user logs on/off and ideally what files they transfer up or down. I've looked through the help files and I'm not getting anywhere. Perhaps it's me. Any guidance would be helpful and greatly...

    Heat failures

They were in BIOS, they were not making noises, at least not that I could hear. The loudes thing was the fans trying to cool the box as the drives heated up. Is there some way to check? I'd hate to think these guys were toast (pardon the expression), without checking.

    Heat failures

I have ...er well had three WD 160GB drives in a software raid 5. I've lost two due to heat. I've since replaced the array with a single 250GB drive and a fan in one of the open bays. QUESTION IS: What exactly fails on the drive? Is it the platter itself, the read/write head, the chips or...

160GB hard drive keeps getting massive files added

Slightly off topic, but... with 2000 and XP you want to create a seperate partition for your pagefile. The compaq restore CD should have put it there for you. Also, watch the heat in that SFF. I've just lost 2 of that exact drive due to heat. *Make sure you have Compaq's DMI agents loaded...

Remote Access via RADIUS vs. Remote Desktop

So, I'm using remote dekstop with a pretty good degree of success to access my home server from work. I can't transfer files like I can with PCA or FTP, but it's functional for job start/stop. I am however concerned with security and wondering if the RADIUS features would help secure the...

    RAID 5 Drive Failures

Keep in mind if this is an OS RAID vs. Hardware RAID, that will impact your recovery. If it's hardware RAID you'll have no problems, however if you use an OS RAID, and the "0" drive fails, you're going to have a hard time rebuilding the RAID. Practical experience with 2003 standard edition...

    Simple backup for home server

That's kinda what I was thinking if the general consensus was to NOT use the built-in backup as part of a scheduled job.
