It is important to know what you are moving from and what you are moving to. Code levels of the adapters will pay a role in whether it will work and there are some things to consider doing this. If you are not careful, you could hose your configuration and restoring the config might be...
Any ServeRaid support CD should work for configuring the array. Even a 8.40 CD will configure an array on some of the older 3X cards. The version of ServeRaid Manager does not have to match your BIOS of the adapter. You may run into problems however depending on the code level of the adapter...
Hmmm...you might have to setup your own SNMP solution. I don't think you are going to find a IBM utility to monitor from a HP-UX host. You should be able to find th MIBs for the shark on IBM.com.
Greets,
Does anyone know of a way to output the install log from RH EL 4 prior to starting the initial install. The reason I ask is we have a server that is dumping an error during the install. If I switch to tty2 (Ctrl+Alt+F2), I can see the installation messages but I need them in a log file...
You can always set one of the drives back online using ServeRaid Manager and see if it will stay up long enough to pull the data off. If you lost only 2 then you can set online online immediately and the Logical Drive should return to Critical status instead of offline.
There should be a cover release latch on top correct. This should swing up and the cover shuold slide back towards the back of the machine and then you can lift the cover off. Most people try and lift the cover straight up but that will not work. Check to make sure that there are no screws in...
This is the kind of issue that needs explanation. This is a known limitation of the 8677's. The original blades that were designed for the 8677 chassis did not require as much power as the newer blades. As the power requirements increased, IBM developed higher capacity power supplies. Eventually...
There has been several revs for certain boards that had bulging, leaking or even exploding capacitors. It's a known issue, however they seem to have it licked!
Give me your machine type and model and I will locate a BIOS update for you. Also concerning a possible IRQ conflict. I doubt it, nowadays IRQ sharing is dominant and if you actually had a conflict at that level then the machine probably would not boot once bios scans the bus. The only way I...
Well that really is the only way to see what piece of hardware is hitting the proc so hard. The reason why IBM suggested that method is because the hardware group does not support software. So suggesting to run a piece of software that monitors the bus is outside the scope of hardware support...
Well, I can only speak from experience concerning SCSI controllers, but what might be happening is that the IDE controller is set to bootable. What that means is if the IDE controller that you installed precedes the onboard in the PCI scan order then the machine will load the BIOS of the PCI IDE...
Are you using the onboard SCSI or a PCI ServeRAID card. The SCSI select utility is for the Onboard SCSI controller. Look for Ctrl-I Mini-config. If the drives are connected to a ServeRAID adapter then Mini-Config is where the HDD's will be listed. Are you trying to recover your array and data...
You could check your motherboard first to see if you have any capacitors that are bulging or leaking. Also a 176 error can mean that the cover is off the machine. Some of IBMs servers had tamper switches on the case. First check your caps, and then check for the tamper switch. If the caps are...
I think I spoke to you on the phone about this. I know this may sound crazy but try the update multiple times back to back. I have certainly seen updates of ServeRAID cards fail multiple times and after multiple retries it takes. I don't have an answer as to why but I can certainly replicate it...
