shadow--to use Yahoo (or other DSL services I think) w/o extra software, just go to Network Connections (properties on My Network Places)->New connection wizard->connect to the internet->Set up manually->connect w/ broadband requiring user name & pwd. Yahoo needs PPPoE, be sure to choose that...- jholman56

Yahoo Connection Manager might be the culprit for many, but unfortunately not for me--not using ANY of Yahoo's software, or an AV (which also seemed the problem for quite a few). Same problem here--is anyone NOT using Yahoo/SBC DSL and having this problem? Oddly I'm using Yahoo/SBC but not any of their software; am using a router that connects directly via PPPoE. Anyhow, have tried all suggestions here and am still looking for a fix. . . gif at rs51's link...- jholman56
